The idea that the desire for power leads to the dissolution of
individual’s morality and purpose in life is visually evident in both
Lear and Edmund’s suffering, as supported by critic (the booklet
has no name, Miss M!) who says, “Lear thought that power was limitless… the only thing that is limitless is suffering.” We as individuals invest in the world’s desires for satisfaction and a sense of control. Hence, it is adamant that we establish moral standards and understand that with great power comes great responsibility.
