Today at 9am, I went to Hillsong with Elle. It was beautiful, the building itself, the speakers' words & the praises. But there was ONE important thing that it lacked, the feel of one community. The speaker opened with the words, "If you're visiting, go back to your own church." I was like... wtf?! But he had good reasons to support is harsh words, LOL. Drifting from church to church is a bad thing. He described it like this:
My wife & I where on a cruise with 2 other couples. Basically, the men were taught how to navigate the huge boat & the person who owned the boat wasn't going to be with us.And guys, we were taught in an OFFICE, not aboard the boat, in an OFFICE. Yeh, I was so scared, if the boat was damaged in anyway, we were going to have to pay for it. They would just add it to our credit card payments. But the main idea was, that when we settled down for the day, we would need to anchor the boat & send a signal back to the main office to show them where we were. Then we headed off anywhere the next day, we'd have to tell them where we would be heading, this was done so if anything went wrong, they'd be able to find our co-ordinates & send out like a search party.
So on the first day, we let out the anchor, but it didn't stop the boat from moving. The sea bed was too fine & we started drifting towards the reef & the rocks. Yeh, that meant that if we collided with the rocks, MAJOR DAMAGE. && that's where I get to my point.
For us to not drift through life, we need a solid foundation. So that we can anchor ourselves. If we keep moving from church to church, we won't be able to establish this foundation, FELLOWSHIP. Fellowship is important because it means that regardless of each others qualities, we choose each other. Like God, he chose us to be with him before we did anything, before we even knew him. & so when we say to God, " I choose you too", we are making a fellowship with him.
BLAHH~ I think that's basically what he said. He obviously praised it better, LOL. It was a fantastic service, I actually learnt a lot from that speaker. He also talked about Christian Forgiveness means Sacrifice. MAN! That was such a good subtopic. It made me turn back around...
